Amber Heard & Johnny Depp Record Apology Video for Smuggling Dogs into Australia
Actress Amber Heard will not be serving any prison time after pleading guilty to illegally bringing her dogs into Australia last year.
After appearing in a Queensland, Australia, court with husband Johnny Depp on Monday, Amber also walked away without a criminal conviction for making a false statement on her immigration card about their dogs.
During their court appearance, a video of the couple apologizing for their actions was played. The video also featured the two emphasizing the importance of declaring all animals and urging others to respect the biosecurity laws in Australia.
Heard said in the video, "Australia is free of many pests and disease that are commonplace around the world. That is why Australia has to have such strict biosecurity laws… I am truly sorry that Pistol and Boo were not declared.” Watch!
Depp added, "Australians are just as unique [as Australia], both warm and direct. When you disrespect Australian law, they will tell you firmly."
In exchange for pleading guilty, Heard's two importation charges were dropped and she was given a one-month $1,000 good behavior bond.
