Who Is ‘Becky with the Good Hair’? Rachel Roy & Rita Ora Step Out After Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’ Controversy
Beyoncé released her visual album and HBO special “Lemonade” over the weekend, and many can't stop speculating about the identity of “Becky with the good hair."
At first, many suspected that the woman Beyoncé is talking about in the song “Sorry" is fashion designer Rachel Roy.
Roy seemed to invite controversy by posting a picture of herself laughing on Instagram with the caption, "good hair don't care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always. Live in the light #nodramaqueens.” The post has since been deleted.
Roy also canceled an appearance on Monday for a “personal emergency,” but made a statement to shut down the rumors. She told People, "I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors.” She was later spotted arriving at her Sherman Oaks home with a shopping bag.
Another woman that is attracting some attention in the “Lemonade” scandal is Rita Ora, who posted a Snapchat pic of herself wearing a lemon-embroidered Tezenis bra and an “R” necklace that looks like a “J” due to the flipped orientation of selfies.

Back in 2008, Jay Z signed Rita to his Roc Nation record label, but the singer just filed a lawsuit against the label a few months ago, claiming the “relationship with Roc Nation is irrevocably damaged.”
On Monday, Rita further fueled the rumors by wearing the same Gucci ensemble that Beyoncé wore while straddling a cop car in her “Formation” music video.
