Tom Petty Dead at 66
Legendary singer Tom Petty has passed away at the age of 66.
His longtime band manager Tony Dimitriades said in a statement to "Extra," "On behalf of the Tom Petty family we are devastated to announce the untimely death of of our father, husband, brother, leader and friend Tom Petty. He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived. He died peacefully at 8:40pm PT surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends."
Petty was rushed to the hospital after he was found unconscious at his home in Malibu, reports TMZ.
Petty performed at the Hollywood Bowl just a week before his hospitalization. He was currently on a break from the tour, which was set to resume in November.

In December, Petty opened up about his future plans after touring, telling Rolling Stone, "I have a granddaughter now I'd like to see as much as I can. I don't want to spend my life on the road. This tour will take me away for four months. With a little kid, that's a lot of time.”
After the sad news, many celebrities took to social mourn his passing, including Adam Levine, John Mayer, and Paul McCartney.
