Inside the Emotional, A-List-Packed Good-bye to Carrie Fisher & Debbie Reynolds
On Thursday, Hollywood's elites came out to pay their final respects to Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds at a joint memorial service inside the family's Beverly Hills compound.
Some of the famous guests who were spotted entering the gathering include Meryl Streep, Meg Ryan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lea Michele, Richard Dreyfuss, George Lucas and Ed Begley Jr.
Streep sang “Happy Days Are Here Again” during her eulogy, while Billie Lourd spoke about losing both her mother and grandmother last week.
A source told People magazine, "Billie wanted the people her mother loved to gather in that living room one last time.”
Carrie's brother Todd Fisher; her half-sisters Joely Fisher and Tricia Leigh Fisher; and Billie's dad Bryan Lourd were also on hand at the intimate memorial, which was attended by approximately 125 guests.
Stephen Fry and Tracey Ullman read tributes to Carrie. The insider reported, "All the tributes circled back to Billie and how much Carrie loved her."
At the memorial, guests ate from the same menu that Carrie used to served at her parties, which included fried chicken, collard greens and corn bread. A family friend who attended parties at the compound in the past said, "Debbie would sit in the corner, and everyone there would come up and pay homage. Even the biggest stars were starstruck by her. Carrie would walk around barefoot with a can of Coca-Cola, making sure everyone was having a good time, saying the funniest things you've ever heard.”
Debbie and Carrie will be laid to rest later today at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
