Ivanka & Melania Defend Donald Trump
Republican candidate Donald Trump has taken some tough punches during his presidential campaign, but his family is always behind him.
In an interview on Wednesday, Donald's daughter Ivanka defended him after a story was published claiming he groped a woman. She told CBS host Norah O'Donnell, "He's not a groper. I found it to be pretty disturbing, based on the facts as I know them. I'm not in every interaction my father has, but he's not a groper — it's not who he is.”
Over the weekend, the New York Times posted a story about Trump making inappropriate comments to women and even mistreating them. Of the article, Ivanka argued, "They had such a strong thesis and created facts to reinforce it. And, you know, I think that narrative has been playing out now.”
After the story was published, Trump blasted the paper, tweeting, "Michael Barbaro, the author of the now discredited @nytimes hit piece on me with women, has in past tweeted badly about me. He should resign.” Barbaro responded, “We really stand by our story, we believe we quoted her fairly and accurately and that the story really speaks for itself.”
Ivanka isn't the only one defending Donald — his wife Melania commented in a recent interview with DuJour, “We know the truth. He's not Hitler. He wants to help America. He wants to unite people. They think he doesn't but he does. Even with the Muslims, it's temporary.”
Melania went on, “Maybe he needs to say it in a softer way. He doesn't go after religions. He feels like we need to know who's coming to this country. If not, we don't have a country. That's how he feels. We see how he is, and he wants to unite the country and bring people together and bring jobs back.”
