Carrie Underwood’s First TV Interview About Gruesome ‘Freak Accident’
Earlier this morning, Carrie Underwood sat down for her first television interview since her scary fall, which resulted in over 40 stitches in her face.
On “Today,” Carrie told Hoda Kotb, “Plain and simple, it was just kind of a freak accident. I just tripped taking my dogs out to do their business, so it could've happened to anybody. I say if I had fallen anywhere else, it wouldn't have been a problem, but it was just one step that I went to catch myself on and I missed."
Along with damaging her lip area, Carrie had to get surgery on her broken wrist. She admitted, “I didn't know how things were gonna end up. It just wasn't pretty."

After months of hiding her face, Underwood is getting more comfortable about her appearance. When Hoda pointed out that she looks the same, Carrie replied, “I have a dedicated team of professionals who can spackle and paint and paste. Every day I feel a little more back to normal."
Carrie returned to the stage for the first last month at the ACM Awards, where she debuted her single “Cry Pretty.” She shared, “When I'm singing a song, it's like I'm in the music, and I'm right there living it, and then right as the song ends, I'm like, 'Oh, man, I'm just Carrie again.' It's like the magic ends somehow and I turn into a pumpkin in front of everybody. I'm not a center-of-attention kind of person."
