How Much?! Tyler Perry Gave Major Raise to ‘A Madea Family Funeral’ Cast
Actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry premiered his final “Madea” movie, “A Madea Family Funeral” in New York Monday night.
Perry celebrated along with the cast, who revealed to “Extra” that he had actually surprised them by doubling their salaries for the film!
Rome Flynn, who plays Jesse, said they shot it in seven days. Along with calling Tyler, “a genius,” Flynn said, “He brought us all into the producers rooms halfway through shooting and we were all scared, we were like, 'What the hell? What did we do?' He sat us down individually and said Tyler's enjoying everything you guys are doing so he wants to double your pay for the movie… He basically just blessed us for no reason.”
Quin Walters, who plays Renee, added, “It was unbelievable that he doubled our salaries 'cause he appreciated the work we were doing.”
Perry, who produced, directed, and acted in the final installment of the franchise, said he isn't sad to see Madea go, explaining, ”I'm excited about letting go, moving on.”
As for the pay raise the cast received, he commented, “They're special, this whole moment's special, and I'm hoping it becomes life for them for something else they go on to do.”
