Bill Cosby Jokes About Sexual Assault Allegations at Ontario Show
Comedian Bill Cosby surprised the audience at his standup show in London, Ontario by making a joke about the recent allegations against him.
When a woman in the front row reportedly offered to grab him a beverage as she got up to go to the concession stand, he responded, “You have to be careful about drinking around me.”
According to MSNBC, the joke received a mixed response from the crowd.
The quip alluded to claims that Cosby drugged and raped his alleged victims.
Meanwhile, protesters lined up outside of the Budweiser Gardens entertainment center, and one heckler yelled “rapist” during the show. That person was removed.
After the performance, Cosby released a statement to MSNBC, that said, “Dear Fans: One outburst but over 2600 loyal, patient and courageous fans enjoyed the most wonderful medicine that exist for human-kind. Laughter. I thank you, the theatre staff (Budweiser Gardens), the event organizers and the London, ON Community for your continued honor and support. I'm Far From Finished.”
More than 20 women have accused Cosby, 77, of sexual assault. The comedian's lawyer, Marty Singer, has repeatedly denied the claims, calling them “unsubstantiated” and “fantastical.” Cosby has never been criminally charged.
