It’s Official! Marie Osmond Is Sara Gilbert’s Replacement on ‘The Talk’
On Tuesday, it was officially announced that Marie Osmond will be joining “The Talk.”
Osmond, who has co-hosted over 40 episodes of “The Talk” in the past nine seasons, will join Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood at the table in September when the show returns for Season 10.
In a statement, the 59-year-old said, “It is such a joy for me to be joining 'The Talk' in September. After guest co-hosting and appearing as a guest on the show throughout the years, I am thrilled to now call this my day job. I look forward to working with Sharon, Sheryl, Eve and Carrie Ann, who are such smart, strong, talented women whom I immensely respect. I cannot wait to share this exciting new chapter with the viewers and the CBS family.”
Angelica McDaniel, Executive Vice President, Daytime Programs, and Syndicated Programs Development, CBS Entertainment and CBS Television Distribution, added in a separate statement, “If you've seen Marie Osmond guest host on 'The Talk' over the past nine seasons, you know she's the perfect addition to the show. Marie's impressive career accomplishments have endeared her to fans throughout the decades. Her willingness to be authentic and share personal triumphs and struggles with honesty in the hopes of helping others always resonates. I'm excited to kick off season 10 with the multitalented, dynamic Marie at 'The Talk' table.”
Last week, TMZ reported that Osmond had signed a deal to be a host on the show. A source claimed that ratings skyrocketed when Marie guest-hosted in the past few months.
Earlier this month, Gilbert made her surprising announcement to leave the show. She told the audience, “I'm nervous. This is hard to do and something that I have been struggling with for awhile and going back and forth. But I've decided that it's time for me to leave the show at the end of the season.”
