Kate Spade Dead from Apparent Suicide
Famed designer Kate Spade has passed away at the age of 55.
TMZ reports that Spade was found dead on Tuesday in her NYC apartment by her housekeeper, who found her tied to a closet door knob with a red scarf. Law enforcement sources told the site that she had hanged herself.
According to TMZ, Spade left a suicide note for her daughter Frances Beatrix, 13. The note reportedly said, "Bea - I have always loved you. This is not your fault. Ask Daddy!"
Last year, Coach bought Spade's brand for $2.4 billion. Before the takeover, Kate Spade's shares were at a three-year low.
Spade's death is eerily similar to that of designer L'Wren Scott, who committed suicide amid rumored financial troubles by hanging herself in her Chelsea apartment in 2014.
After news about Spade's death, celebrities, including Rosie O'Donnell, Bethenny Frankel and Chelsea Clinton mourned her loss on social media.
Rosie tweeted to Spade's brother-in-law, "@DavidSpade – all my love to u dave.”

My grandmother gave me my first Kate Spade bag when I was in college. I still have it. Holding Kate's family, friends and loved ones in my heart.
