Armie Hammer Jokes About the Drug That Will Help Him Through Another Awards Season
After a whirlwind awards season working the cameras to promote his Oscar-winning film, “Call Me by Your Name,” Armie Hammer is back on the big screen, starring in the new movie “Final Portrait.”
“Extra's” Mark Wright sat down with Armie, who has been quite busy with red carpets and personal appearances.
Armie shared, “It's a great time specifically right now because it's all kind of done. It's a circuit. As George C. Scott so eloquently put it, 'It's a g*ddamn meat parade.' Awards season is crazy. To go through it is kind of like a hellacious process. But at the end of the day, we made a movie that people were kind of interested in and resonated and cared about, so that's always good thing.”
The movie won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay just weeks ago, and director Luca Guadagnino has already confirmed there will be a sequel.
While “there's no script yet,” Armie revealed, “Luca seems to be pretty gung ho on it. He pitched us the idea and walked us through what he thought would happen.”
If he happens to get nominated again, as he was for a Golden Globe among other honors, how would Armie survive another awards season? He joked, “Quaaludes!”
In “Final Portrait,” directed by Stanley Tucci, Hammer plays an American writer and art lover who develops a friendship with the world-renowned artist Alberto Giacometti (played by Geoffrey Rush) after sitting down for a portrait.
When asked about working with Geoffrey, Armie raved, “He's a monstrous talent. He's also the hardest-working actor I've ever worked with. He wants to rehearse at the end of every day for the next day, and then he wants to rehearse on Saturdays and Sundays as well.”
“He'll call you up and be like, 'Armie what are you doing? Why don't you come over to my place and we'll look at the scenes for tomorrow?'” the 31-year-old continued.
“Final Portrait” is in theaters Friday.
