Corey Feldman Statement on Corey Haim: "A Tragic Loss..."
Actor Corey Feldman is mourning the loss of his longtime friend, Corey Haim, whom he calls "a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul."
In a statement, Feldman says: "I was awakened at 8:30 this morning by my brother and sister knocking on my bedroom door. They informed me of the loss of my brother Corey Haim. My eyes weren't even open all the way when the tears started streaming down my face. I am so sorry for Corey, his mother Judy, his family, my family, all of our fans, and of course my son who I will have to find a way to explain this to when he gets home from school. This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend."
"We must all take this as a lesson in how we treat the people we share this world with while they are still here to make a difference," Feldman continues. "Please respect our families as we struggle and grieve through this difficult time. I hope the art Corey has left behind will be remembered as the passion of that for which he truly lived."
Feldman and Haim got their start as child stars in such films as "The Lost Boys" and "License to Drive," and most recently starred together in the A&E reality show, "The Two Coreys."
Haim was found unresponsive in his apartment early this morning and pronounced dead of an apparent overdose.
Haim is reported to have been suffering from flu-like symptoms and had gotten out of bed around 1:30 AM, feeling dizzy, People.com reports. His mother, Judy, helped him, but he then became unresponsive. She called 911 and Haim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A coroner has told "Extra" they did remove some prescription drugs from the house, but there were no illicit drugs found. An autopsy will most likely take place tomorrow.
