Michael J. Fox Started 'Drinking Heavily' After Parkinson's Diagnosis
In a candid new interview with Howard Stern, actor Michael J. Fox reveals how difficult it was to leave showbiz after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
The star, who returns to the small screen this week with “The Michael J. Fox Show,” told the shock jock, “It felt helpless. Unfair in a way, it is hard to explain.”
He added, “My first reaction to it was to start drinking heavily… I used to drink to party and now I was drinking alone. Every day.”
Fox continued, “Then it was about a year of a knife fight in a closet where I just didn't have my tools to deal with it after that I went into therapy, and it all started to get really clear to me; take one day at a time.”
