Why Keshia Knight Pulliam Is Supporting Bill Cosby
Actress Keshia Knight Pulliam is explaining why she is on her TV dad Bill Cosby's side after dozens of women have accused him of sexual assault.
Last week, Pulliam accompanied Cosby on the first day of his sexual assault trial in Pennsylvania. Wednesday morning, she told “Today,” "At the end of the day, I truly believe you're innocent until proven guilty, and that's just not the man that I ever experienced. I just thought about it, 'How would I want to be treated if, God forbid, I was in that situation?'”
"It's easy to be there for someone when things are good, when business is good, when money is good, when all of these things [are good],'' she argued. "I just felt like I wanted to do what I would have wanted to receive."
As for Cosby's state of mind as the jury deliberates the verdict, Keshia revealed, "My interactions with him, he's been in good spirits. I was grateful to see his spirit hadn't been broken as a result of this process because it's arduous. There's nothing happy, there's nothing good about it for either side.”
For now, the 38-year-old is not thinking about the possibility that Cosby could be found guilty, saying she'll "cross that bridge when I come to it.”
Along with Keshia, Cosby's former “California Suite” co-star Sheila Frazier and actors Joe Torry and Lewis Dix Jr. also showed up in court to support Cosby during his two-week trial.
