Jennifer Lawrence Finds It ‘Odd’ to Be Up Against BFF Amy Schumer at Golden Globes
“Extra's” AJ Calloway caught up with superstar Jennifer Lawrence at the premiere of her new film “Joy,” which has earned her another Golden Globe nomination.
Lawrence will be up against BFF Amy Schumer in the Best Actress in a Comedy category. JLaw commented on the red carpet, “I know that was odd… I'm excited that it will actually be fun. Who would have thought if you looked at my movie and you look at her movie it would be in the same category, but I'll take what I can get.”
Though they haven't yet talked about the noms together, Jennifer has an idea of what they can do when cameras pan them during the show. “Maybe we can start arm wrestling… or whoever wins we can Zoolander each other.”
The duo just finished writing their own movie, and Jennifer said at the junket, “We are dunzo, we are ready to go.”
Of their genuine friendship, Lawrence said, “I just wrapped a lasso around her and said, 'Come on little lady, you're coming with me.'”
In “Joy,” Jennifer is reunited with Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro. She gushed over working with Cooper again, calling him her brother. “I always love working with Bradley.”
Jennifer and DeNiro were co-stars in David O. Russell's highly acclaimed film “Silver Linings Playbook,” in which De Niro played Cooper's dad. In "Joy," he plays Jennifer's dad. She shared, “It was so adorable that he was my dad, because for so many years I'd go to him and be like, 'Where should I invest my money?'”
Lawrence is taking on the role of Home Shopping Network star Joy Mangano. “Joy's fascinating, she's so kind and so nice, and so wonderful and very normal, but there's this incredible business icon that has such a presence — she's something.”
Mangano became a self-made mogul with her inventions, including the Miracle Mop. JLaw admitted she “wasn't a great mopper” and that Bradley helped her. “Bradley Cooper had to show me how to use it. They had one growing up. His mom used to watch QVC, I was just a redneck in Kentucky.”
“Joy” starts mopping up in theaters Christmas Day.
