Hollywood Reacts to President Trump’s Rollback of Transgender Rights

President Donald Trump is making headlines after reversing President Obama's guidelines that allowed transgender students to use the bathroom corresponding with their gender identity. The initiative Trump is rescinding, which aimed to stop sex discrimination in education, had been put into place by Obama in May.
Trump wants the decision to be made at the state, not the federal, level.
Many celebrities took to social media to express their thoughts on Trump's decision to revoke transgender rights, including Ellen DeGeneres and Jackie Evancho, who sang at Trump's inauguration.
DeGeneres wrote on Twitter, "Just seeing the news about removing laws protecting trans people. This isn't about politics. It's about human rights, and it's not okay.”
Evancho had a personal connection to the issue since her sister is transgender. She tweeted, "I am obviously disappointed in the @POTUS decision to send the #transgender bathroom issue to the states to decide. #sisterlove. @realDonaldTrump u gave me the honor 2 sing at your inauguration. Pls give me & my sis the honor 2 meet with u 2 talk #transgender rights.”
