‘Goonies’ Actress Mary Ellen Trainor Dies at 62
Actress Mary Ellen Trainor, who played the mother in the film “Goonies,” died at her Montecito, California home on May 20 at the age of 62.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed the news of Trainor's passing on Monday, June 8.

Trainor often collaborated with directors Richard Donner and Robert Zemeckis. She was married to Zemeckis from 1980 until 2000.
She also appeared in all four “Lethal Weapon” films as Dr. Stephanie Woods. Other notable films include “Romancing the Stone,” “Die Hard,” “Scrooged,” “Ghostbusters II,” “Back to the Future Part II,” and “Forrest Gump.”
Trainor is survived by her son, Alex, her mother, Jane, and siblings Ned, Jack, Barbara and Carolyn.
A memorial service will take place June 19 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Montecito.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation and The Wounded Warrior Project.
