John Legend Talks Joe Biden, Netflix Projects… and Who the Twitter Haters Wanted as Sexiest Man Alive
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen made their return to the public to support Joe Biden after the unimaginable loss of their baby Jack.
The couple was with Biden in Philadelphia the night before the election, then celebrated his win on the streets of West Hollywood over the weekend. “Extra's” Nate Burleson caught up with John today, along with his producer partner Mike Jackson.
Nate said, “It's good to see you and the wife smiling… I know you have been through a lot.” John thanked him warmly.
Legend shared what it was like to celebrate our new President-elect with dancing in the streets, saying, “You know, it was pretty euphoric for me and for Chrissy. We knew how much work had gone into this election for so many people all around the country… So many people who were exhausted by four years of being gaslit and lied to, so many families that were broken up by our harsh immigration regime, and so many elements of our American life we thought were in jeopardy and… for the people of this country to come together like the way we did, it was pretty joyful for us to celebrate.”
He added, “We wanted to be part of it, so we went out there.”

View StoryMeanwhile, John and Mike are working together on two new Netflix projects: their documentary “Giving Voice,” which premieres December 11, and “Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey,” which is streaming now.
Mike shared, “We want to show people of color a path toward inspiration, and I think both of these films succeed at that.”
John added, “'Jingle Jangle' and 'Giving Voice' are all about dreaming big... all about the possibility that you can achieve if you believe in yourself.”
The flicks star some of Hollywood's biggest names, and feature some up-and-coming actors, too.
John explained, “Some of them hadn't done much work before. Some of them, this was their first film, so even the story of the film is about possibilities about giving people a chance to make their dreams come true — and the story within the film is that, too.”
Mike said, “We're highlighting people like us to let them know to dream, let them know anything's possible.”
Mike also had a possible successor for John, whose reign as People's Sexiest Man Alive is coming to an end soon. Mike insisted, “When John got that cover, I got a lot of phone calls from other Black men who felt like maybe they were up next... so I'm thinking maybe, like, a Nate Burleson?”
John smiled, saying, “When you win and people get on your Twitter, they often tell you the person who should have won… I have actual research from my Twitter haters telling me who should have won over me, and Jason Momoa got a lot of votes.”
