Madonna Gets Emotional Onstage over Son Rocco
Madonna and Guy Ritchie are still in the middle of a contentious custody battle over their 15-year-old son Rocco, who left Madonna's Rebel Heart tour to stay with his father in England.
On Saturday, at her first-ever tour stop in New Zealand, TMZ reports the singer dedicated her cover of Edith Piaf's "La Vie en Rose" to the teenager, saying, "He's actually 15, and — it's true — there is no love stronger than a mother for her son. And, if I talk about it too much, I'm gonna cry."
After a supportive roar from the crowd, she continued, "But, I would like to dedicate this song to him. It's a love song for a man, but I know he'll be one one day. I hope he hears this somewhere, and he knows how much I miss him."
After last week's court date in the custody case, Madonna and Ritchie have through May to come to terms regarding where Rocco will stay, with the boy wanting to live in England and Madonna wanting him to live with her, which was part of her 2009 divorce settlement.
If the couple can't come to terms, they'll be back in court June 1.
