‘Angelina Effect’ Continues: Kelly Osbourne Has Same Cancer Gene, Reveals Next Steps
Angelina Jolie's brave decision to speak about her preventive cancer surgeries has raised awareness in Hollywood. Today, Kelly Osbourne stepped forward to share her own cancer risks and what she plans to do.
“I actually do have the cancer gene (BRCA)” Osbourne said on “The Talk,” her mother Sharon's daytime show. “My mom made all of us go and get tested after she found out she had it and got her double mastectomy.”
After Jolie's op-ed revealing that she had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed, Osbourne commented: “I agree with this one hundred percent. I know one day I will eventually have to do it too. If I have children I want to be there to bring them up.”
“I have been the child of a cancer survivor, and being on that end as well has been really hard to deal with,” she continued. “I'm so lucky to have the brave mother I have.”
Jolie's “Angelina Effect” has touched other celebrities, who have used social media to praise the actress for her decision.
