‘American Sniper's' Wife Speaks Out, Seth Rogen Clarifies Nazi Propaganda Tweet
The widow of real-life “American Sniper” Chris Kyle is sending out her “gratitude” for all the support for the film, while Seth Rogen explains what he meant in his “Sniper” tweet.
“American Sniper” dominated the box office this past MLK weekend, taking in an estimated $105 million. The war drama is based on the true story of the former Navy SEAL and sharpshooter, and as played by Bradley Cooper, shows how Kyle used his skills in the Iraq war, labeling him “America's deadliest sniper.” A veteran suffering from PTSD killed Kyle in 2013.
Taya Kyle wrote on Facebook on Sunday, "I am overwhelmed with gratitude and my heart is full. 'American Sniper' has broken records, which follows such an honest path of Chris's life. We never expected anything and were always in a moment of stunned silence at the response from all the beautiful people in this world… Thank you for the love and support of our military. Thank you for being willing to watch the hard stuff and thank you for hearing, seeing, experiencing the life of our military and first responders.
“Extra's” AJ Calloway spoke with Taya on Monday, and she said she was blown away by Cooper's gripping performance. "The people who knew him and saw him on a rifle were all like, 'Oh my gosh, that's Chris!'"
As for what Taya thought of actress Sienna Miller, who played her in the film, Mrs. Kyle said, “She was brilliant.”
Meanwhile, Rogen hit back at critics on Monday, responding to controversy ignited over a tweet he published Sunday saying “American Sniper” reminded him of the Nazi propaganda film that played in Quentin Tarantino's “Inglourious Basterds.”
I just said something "kinda reminded" me of something else. I actually liked American Sniper. It just reminded me of the Tarantino scene.

The comic actor tweeted, “I just said something 'kinda reminded' me of something else. I actually liked American Sniper. It just reminded me of the Tarantino scene.”
He added, “But if you were having a slow news day, you're welcome for me giving you the opportunity to blow something completely out of proportion.”
