'Extra' Exclusive: Miranda Lambert Backstage at the ACM Awards After Her Record-Breaking Wins
Only “Extra” special correspondent Alecia Davis was in the People Magazine Portrait Room backstage at the 53rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas and caught up with 32-time ACM recipient Miranda Lambert. Miranda had two wins Sunday night, for Song of the Year for her hit “Tin Man” and also for Female Vocalist of the Year.
Alecia asked Miranda how it felt to be the all-time most-awarded ACM winner. Miranda shared, “It's insane. I can't believe it. I'm so thankful and humbled.” She added that she was “overwhelmed” winning Song of the Year. And where is she going to put all her awards? Miranda laughed, “I don't really know! I have a shelf, I'm going to be scooting some stuff over.” As for Alecia's suggestion that she may need an entire room? Miranda agreed, saying, "I think I do!"
The show included a special tribute to the victims of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting. Miranda told Alecia that it was special, saying, "Everything that's happened this past year and with everything that happened in Vegas, being here tonight and standing strong as one was so important, and I feel like we did that.”
Next up for Miranda is a tour with Little Big Town. Miranda revealed, “I've been trying to plan this tour for 10 years or more. It's called the Bandwagon tour, and it starts this summer.” Meanwhile, how did Miranda plan on celebrating last night? She told Alecia, “I'm going to go find my band and crew and eat pizza!”
