'Judge Judy' Announcer Jerry Bishop Dead at 84

One year before the end of "Judge Judy's" long run, its announcer Jerry Bishop has died at 84.
THR reports the voice of the show since 1996 — also a popular radio host in L.A. in the '60s — died Tuesday of heart disease.
Bishop, who was also a voice-over artist, was memorialized by "Judge Judy" star Judy Sheindlin, who said in a statement, "Jerry Bishop has been the voice of our program for 24 years. Everybody loved him. He had a golden heart and generous spirit. I adored him and will miss him."
Bishop was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Velma, in 2007. He is survived by his three daughters, three grandchildren, his brother and sister-in-law, a nephew, a niece and a great-niece.
