Nick Cordero’s Wife Amanda Kloots Tearfully Thanks Fans for Making Him a ‘Rock Star’
On Monday, Amanda Kloots thanked fans for their love and support of her late husband Nick Cordero, who passed away after battling COVID-19 complications.
After an emotional performance of his song “Live Your Life,” Kloots shared on Instagram, “We played this song a lot yesterday in Nick's room with him and we were singing to him and I kept telling him that he had the whole world singing his song and knowing who he was and what kind of an amazing person he was.”
Wiping away tears underneath her aviator sunglasses, Amanda continued, “just wanted him to know that his dream of becoming a rock star happened. And sometimes your dreams happen and you don't get to fully embrace them, but Nick's dream of becoming a rock star definitely happened and it was because of you guys.”
Amanda had been singing “Live Your Life” every day since Nick was hospitalized in March after testing positive for coronavirus. She revealed, “There were days when I did not think I could get on social media and sing but I always felt better after I did.… It always made me feel better. Singing and dancing is an amazing way to have some therapy in your life.”
The following day, Kloots posted a montage video of their relationship over the past five years. She wrote, “Nick always said we were completely different people that normally would never be together. We challenged each other and in doing so caused each other to grow and change. We pushed each other's buttons in the best of ways. He would always look at me and say, 'I'm the luckiest.' Well darling, I was the luckiest to get to spend five years with you and to share a son that will always remind me of you. ❤️.”
Over the weekend, Kloots confirmed Cordero's passing at 41. She wrote, “God has another angel in heaven now. My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth."
“I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone's friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and husband. Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, everyday,” Amanda added.
Kloots thanked Nick's doctor as well as his fans in her heartfelt post, writing, "I cannot begin to thank everyone enough for the outpour of love , support and help we've received these last 95 days. You have no idea how much you lifted my spirits at 3pm everyday as the world sang Nicks song, Live Your Life. We sang it to him today, holding his hands. As I sang the last line to him, 'they'll give you hell but don't you light them kill your light not without a fight. Live your life,' I smiled because he definitely put up a fight. I will love you forever and always my sweet man. ❤️"

View StoryKloots had kept supporters abreast of his progress via her Instagram account. Most recently, she had opened up to Gayle King on “CBS This Morning,” saying, "In a perfect world — because we are hoping for a perfect world — our ultimate, ultimate goal would be to get him to be a candidate for a double-lung transplant. We think that that is most likely the possibility, 99% chance that he would be needing that in order to live the kind of life that I know my husband would want to live. That is a long road away."
As far as what he understood toward the end, she said, “That is really hard to try to gauge, unfortunately. We have told him a blanket statement of kind of what has happened just because we don't know what he understands just yet.” She confirmed she had told him that his leg had been amputated, adding, “I told him there are amazing prosthetics and I told him I have been talking to other amputees and to try to give him encouragement.”
Kloots was told more than once he wouldn't survive, but the Broadway star continued to fight far longer than experts expected.
