Basketball Legend Moses Malone Dies at 60
Basketball legend Moses Malone has died at the age of 60 from heart disease, according to TMZ.
Malone, who played more than 20 professional seasons of basketball, first with the Houston Rockets and more famously with the Philadelphia 76ers, died in his sleep today.
Malone was a three-time MVP and Basketball Hall of Famer who led the Sixers to the title in 1983. He was the first person ever to join the NBA straight out of high school.
Sixers CEO Scott O'Neil said of Malone in a statement, ""It is with a deep sense of sadness that the Sixers family mourns the sudden loss of Moses Malone. It is difficult to express what his contributions to this organization — both as a friend and player — have meant to us, the city of Philadelphia and his faithful fans. Moses holds a special place in our hearts and will forever be remembered as a genuine icon and pillar of the most storied era in the history of Philadelphia 76ers basketball."
