Wango Tango Moments! Gwen Stefani's Message to Crowd: 'I Hate Liars'
Last night, Gwen Stefani had a clear message for the crowd at 102.7 KIIS FM's Wango Tango 2016, held at the StubHub Center.
Stefani, who showed off her toned abs in a fishnet top, performed some of her big hits, including "Rich Girl," "Hollaback Girl," "Wind It Up," "What You Waiting For?" and "Sweet Escape." While performing her song "Baby Don't Lie," she added an extra line: "I hate liars."
Since she said the line more than once, could she be sending a message to ex-husband Gavin Rossdale? The song, which is about a woman asking her boyfriend to stop hurting their relationship with lies, was released just one year before they split. When she was asked if the liar in the song was Gavin, she told Ryan Seacrest in 2014, “Things are all really good with me and Gavin, if everyone's wondering. He's awesome.”
Stefani had one of the longer set lists of the evening, and also entertained the sold-out crowd with new songs, including "Make Me Like You" and "Misery," but decided not to sing her recent single "Used to Love You." The single was rumored to be about her split from Gavin.
Aside from Gwen's omission of "Used to Love You." Zayn also surprised the crowd by not singing his smash hit "Pillowtalk." Though his girlfriend Gigi Hadid was not at the show, her ex, Joe Jonas, was there to perform with DNCE. We wonder if Zayn and Joe, who wore similar outfits, had any awkward encounters backstage?
Just before Zayn performed, Iggy Azalea faced some technical difficulties. She opened her set with "Black Widow," but the crowd was unable to hear the beginning of the song since her mic was off. Despite the mic problem, Iggy was able to finish without a hitch, belting out her songs "Work," "Fancy," and "Team."
Ariana Grande, Meghan Trainor, Demi Lovato, Mike Posner, Fifth Harmony, and Alessia Cara were some of the other performers who took the stage.
