Nick Cordero’s Wife Reveals His Weight Loss During COVID-19 Battle
On Wednesday night, Nick Cordero's wife Amanda Kloots took live questions about his health on Instagram.
Kloots revealed that Cordero, whose body was devastated by Covid-19, has lost “65 lbs.,” due to muscle atrophy.
When someone asked if Nick could move, she said, “Unfortunately not. He's so weak that he can't move. His muscles are definitely atrophying.”
Since he can't move, doctors have him on “high-protein food” to help stop the weight loss.
Amanda also pointed out that he can't speak either, just answering “yes” or “no” questions with his eyes. She said, “Nick is there. There's not much going on, but he's there. His eyes are open and he's looking up and down and answering questions. He's there."
Amanda noted that Cordero's blood pressure “is all over the place.” She added, “Some days are good, some days aren't. We're basically just trying to see if we can get him stable and strong enough to have more options. That's where we're at right now. It's monotonous, and it is hard on a daily basis — very, very hard for me and, I'm sure, even more so for Nick.”
While Amanda is trying to maintain a positive attitude, she admitted, “Every day that goes by, I just feel like my heart is just breaking more and more and more because I think about him laying there, and I just am devastated. I see our little boy — just the cutest little thing — growing up and doing all these firsts, and Nick missing them.”
Nick recently missed his son's first steps. Earlier this week, she shared, “We have a walker. Elvis took his first steps today. I missed them, but his grandparents saw them and then as soon as he saw me, he did it for me. So that was really cute. Of course my mind went right to Nick and Nick missing that moment. That wasn't easy."
Cordero has been hospitalized for over 77 days, and it could be months before he is discharged. Amanda said, “I am constantly praying for a miracle. I am constantly praying for healing, and I am not giving up hope or belief that it'll happen. Nick is still there. He's still fighting."
Just days ago, Kloots explained why a lung transplant was “not on the table.” Along with saying that he “just wouldn't survive,” she shared, “That despite a not pretty CT scan on Nick's chest and lungs area, that the lungs are amazing and they can function, and we just keep thinking about the options that we have and getting him stronger. He said that he has seen lungs recover and they do incredible things, so don't give up hope because you never know what the functionality of something is based off of a picture."
