Ramy Youssef Reveals What Happens When You Lose at Emmys 2020
Actor Ramy Youssef took a lighthearted approach to his loss at the 2020 Emmys.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Emmys had to adjust accordingly. Instead of a star-studded crowd inside a venue, Hazmat suit-wearing presenters arrived at nominees' houses with Emmy trophies in case they win.
Youssef revealed what happens when your name is not called during an award category. After losing to “Schitt's Creek” star Eugene Levy in the Outstanding Lead Actor for a Comedy Series category, he posted a video of the presenter waving goodbye with the Emmy in hand. He wrote on Instagram, “When you lose the emmy.”

Fellow nominee Mahershala Ali, who was also nominated for his supporting role on the show, responded, “Lol. Love you Brother.”
Ramy's show was nominated for three Emmys this year.
Earlier in the telecast, host Jimmy Kimmel addressed the COVID-19 pandemic during the monologue, saying, “Welcome to the Pandemmys. It's great to finally see people again. Thank you for risking everything to be here. Thank me for risking everything to be here. You know what they say, you can't have a virus without a host. Why are we having an awards show in the middle of a pandemic? And what the hell am I doing here? This is the year they decide they have to have a host? Why is a question I've been asked a lot this week. And I get it, it might seem frivolous and unnecessary, but you know what else seems frivolous and unnecessary? Doing it every other year.”
