Singer George Michael has passed away at the age of 53.
Michael's publicist confirmed the death in a statement to the BBC, saying, "It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period."
"The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage."
Earlier this morning, an ambulance was reportedly called to a property in the village of Gorin, 50 miles from London.
Though police did not reveal his name, they said in a statement, "Sadly, a 53-year-old man was confirmed deceased at the scene. At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious."
His manager Michael Lippman revealed to Billboard that he died unexpectedly from "heart failure."
According to Michael's Facebook, at the time of his death he was "putting the finishing touches to his special documentary film, 'Freedom.'"
Following his death, George's boyfriend Fadi Fawaz tweeted, "ITs a xmas i will never forget finding your partner dead peacefully in bed first thing in the morning.. I will never stop missing you xx."
Back in 2011, Micheal nearly died from pneumonia. Two years later, he survived a single car crash and was airlifted to a hospital.
