Melissa Rivers Says Mother Joan Rivers’ Passing Was '100% Preventable’
Melissa Rivers sat down with “Today's” Matt Lauer in her first television interview since the death of her mother, Joan Rivers. She told Lauer of her mother's death, "In my opinion, it was 100 percent preventable."

“What could they have done, right off the bat, to prevent this?” asked Lauer. “How about paying attention to the vital signs?” Rivers responded. “How about having a properly equipped crash cart?”
In the exclusive interview, Rivers also recalled how seeing her mother in the hospital was “surreal,” and shared details of the email that revealed how serious Joan's condition was.
Rivers also revealed what it was like growing up as the daughter of a comedy legend, and recounts her memories in her new book, “The Book of Joan: Tales of Mirth, Mischief and Manipulation,” available May 5.
