Sean Hannity Talks Super Bowl, JAY-Z, Royals, Kobe Bryant, Trump, and More
Fresh off Sean Hannity's sit-down with Donald Trump on Super Bowl Sunday, "Extra" was with the king of cable news.
The interview was Hannity's highest-rated ever, and now he's sitting down with us for a wide-ranging conversation about the Super Bowl, JAY-Z, the royals, Kobe Bryant, and — of course — Trump.
What did he think about Jennifer Lopez and Shakira's halftime show? "I will tell you it dazzled me," he said, adding, "I would like to one day interview J.Lo and A-Rod… The athleticism that was in the halftime show was stunning, so impressive."
To those who thought it was over-the-top, he said, "Grow up!"
As for JAY-Z and Beyoncé not standing during the national anthem, Sean said he believes it wasn't a political protest. He thinks JAY-Z was being honest about it being a matter of him focusing on the production. "I can understand the creative side, he was looking specifically at things only great directors and producers look at."
A news story he can't quite wrap his head around is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle leaving the royal family. "I'm sort of torn because I don't know the true story… but on the other hand, if they really want to be independent, go be independent. We only get one shot at this life — one."
On that note, another headline that hit home for the father of two was Kobe Bryant's fatal helicopter crash. Hannity said, "He was one of the most gifted, talented, extraordinary players ever in the game, and it's so tragic to lose anybody with that kind of talent. Why do we love sports and entertainment so much? Because they can do the things we can't do and we watch in awe."
He went on, "I want an abundance of caution when anyone flies — be careful. It scares me, and I was heartbroken, actually."
Sharing who else he would love to interview, Hannity said, "Oprah Winfrey — she's amazing to me… I know we would disagree on politics, but I read books she recommended in her book club and really liked them."
He also really likes Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, saying, "I'm fascinated with Kanye and his new album about God — I can't stop listening to it.”"
Hannity also said he is confident that President Trump will get re-elected. "The people in the country are cheering him," he said, "and I think that's why I think he has a very good shot at re-election."
