Ruthie Ann Miles Returns to Stage Following Deaths of Child & Unborn Baby
Ruthie Ann Miles, the Broadway actress who was injured and who lost her child and unborn baby in a car crash that also took the life of another toddler, has returned to the stage five months after her tragic losses.
People magazine reports Miles stepped back into her Tony-winning role of Lady Thiang in "The King and I" on London's West End.
Fellow Broadway star Kelli O'Hara tweeted her praise for Miles' return, writing, "Every moment was a gift and continues to be. She is singing like an angel and commanding the stage with a heavenly force. An inspiration to all. I knew you would want to know."

Miles is sharing the role with Naoko Mori in the production of the classic musical, which transferred to London from Broadway last month.
Ashley Park, who worked with Miles in the past, also shared her support, writing, "Sending all my love to @ruthieannmiles who performed for the first time in London tonight. Unspeakable bravery, rawness, and brilliance. What I would have given to be there. With angel cards, pranks, and apple cider vinegar for you unee. Thrilled she is surrounded by Bart, Kelli, Ken, and KING AND I family."
Miles and a friend were injured, and their young children killed, when a woman allegedly ran a red light in Brooklyn in March. Miles' lawyer announced in May that her unborn child — Miles had been 7 months along at the time of the crash — had not survived, writing, "The pain suffered by Ruthie and [her husband] Jonathan is nearly impossible to fathom.”
