Shannen Doherty Feeling ‘Great' After Completing Cancer Treatment
Actress Shannen Doherty looks amazing and is feeling good just days after revealing she has finished chemo and radiation for her stage 4 breast cancer.
“Extra's” Terri Seymour caught up with the star, and Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation's founder Marc Ching, at the organization's First Annual Gratitude Gala.
Shannen showed off her short new 'do, telling Terri, “I'm happy with the little Twiggy haircut at the moment. I'm rocking it… I get ready in, like, five minutes, so it's fantastic." She added that she is feeling “great.”
“I'm here and I'm here doing something that's so important to me with a foundation that means the world to me that I'm so honored to be a part of,” she said. "I just, I thank God that I'm able to stand here next to this man right now.”
The 45-year-old opened up about sharing her painful journey on Instagram, saying, “It's very easy to fall into the darkness when faced with adversity, but it takes a lot of strength and perseverance to stay positive and try to continue, like educating and moving forward one step at a time, so I think that that's why I share it... also really it helps me because people write on my Instagram and it's just so encouraging and they share their stories and it means the world to me it lifts me up.”
Doherty has been working with a trainer through her treatment and credits dancing to lifting her up as well. “It brought positivity and fun when you were faced with something that's not so fun,” she said.
She also relied on her inner circle for support — her mom, husband Kurt Iswarienko, famous friends like Chelsea Handler and Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ching, “Marc has helped me through my journey quite a bit,” she said, getting emotional while talking about his dedication to rescuing abused dogs. “Watching how he has again stepped into darkness, stepped into literally the depths of hell to save animals and to educate men who have done nothing but slaughter their entire lives, to see him be able to do that day in and day out gave me a lot of strength.”
Marc is just as touched by Shannen. He said, “You know someone who's been through so much, it's such an honor.” Doherty said she is the one who is honored to be in Marc's presence, declaring, “That's a hero.”
