Jimmy Fallon Discusses Nearly Amputated Finger on ‘Tonight' Show Return
Jimmy Fallon has finally returned to his nightly gig on "The Tonight Show" after injuring his finger two weeks ago.
On his first night back, the 40-year-old host went into full detail about how he sustained his finger injury.
"Ring avulsion, it's a real thing... my ring got caught on the countertop when I was going down and stuck there and pulled my finger up. Trust me, I'm like, 'Wait, what!?' I didn't even look at the thing. I go, 'Can you fix it?' And they go, 'Oh, no, no. We gotta send you somewhere else,'" Jimmy told his audience.
He added about the mishap, "Odds aren't great with these things… usually they just cut your finger off. So, I was going to lose my finger. And I was like, 'Wow.' So this guy did surgery for like six hours — microsurgery — so it's like under a microscope. He had to take a vein out of my foot. It's a crazy story!"
After the surgery, Jimmy spent nearly two weeks in the ICU, where he "started reading books about the meaning of life.”
