Rory Feek Memorializes Wife Joey, Reveals Funeral Details: 'She'll Always Be with Us'
People magazine reports that heartbroken Rory Feek has published a moving memorial to his wife, Joey, who was buried on Tuesday. She died March 4 after a highly publicized battle with cervical cancer.
In the This Life I Live blog post entitled "dust to dust," Feek revealed extensive details of the funeral. He wrote, "And when most of the guests had gone and the sun was starting to fade, Indy and I took the short walk together into the back field to see her mama one more time. And we stayed while and talked with her. And then we took a deep breath and did what Joey would want us to do. We remembered that she's still with us."
The deeply religious country singer concluded his post — illustrated with family photos from the burial — with the inspirational lines, "She'll always be with us. In our hearts. Forever."
On Sunday, Rory made an appearance at a public memorial for Joey in her hometown of Alexandria, Indiana. Before the memorial, Rory said, "It's a special way for the family to say thanks to the community, and for the community to love on the family."
The public memorial also featured sing-alongs of Joey's favorite songs, including "Lean On Me."
