'SNL' Season Opener Was Ratings Gold
"Saturday Night Live's" Season 42 debut on NBC last night was a ratings blockbuster — it had more eyes on it than any of the show's season openers since 2008.
Variety reports the debut's ratings were up 29% from the previous year's debut, powered by a much-anticipated Donald Trump impersonation by Alec Baldwin.

Baldwin and Kate McKinnon (playing Hillary Clinton) opened the show in a send-up of the first presidential debate, and the episode — hosted by Margot Robbie, with musical guest The Weeknd — also made use of Larry David as Bernie Sanders and Darrell Hammond as former President Bill Clinton.
Politics seems to be the show's comedic sweet spot — the last season opener to do so well with viewers was in 2008, when Tina Fey unleashed her Sarah Palin.
