J.Lo Opens Up About A-Rod: 'He's a Beautiful Person'
Jennifer Lopez really is living her best life!
Only “Extra's” AJ Calloway spent time with the Bronx-born beauty as she prepared to perform her new single for a segment on "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular," airing Tuesday, July 4, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
J.Lo opened up to “Extra” about her relationship with Alex Rodriguez and about her hot new single.
The 47-year-old is busier than ever, speaking with "Extra" after shooting her hit TV show "Shades of Blue," where A-Rod joined her on set to Snapchat her hard at work. Gushing over him, J.Lo said, “He's a beautiful person."
AJ showed J.Lo “Extra's” recent interview with A-Rod, in which he said some beautiful things about her, too. “She is one of the... the most impressive and smartest human beings I've ever met," he gushed.
Jennifer, reacting to her boyfriend's kind words, said, “I mean, I feel the same way about him. He's... I think people are gonna really... in the next year or two really get to see who this person really is, you know? He played baseball, he was so focused for so many years, he's, um, one of the greatest of our time and, but as a person, I think, you're gonna see who he really is.” She went on to say, “He's a loving father. He's a generous human being with his family, with his friends, with me. He's caring and sweet and capable and responsible and just all the beautiful things you would want a man to be. I feel really lucky right now, so I'm excited about life, but I'm more excited for people to get to see who he really is.”
Alex is busy with his post-baseball career, signing on to both "Good Morning America” and "Shark Tank." Jennifer approves of his latest moves, saying, “He's a brilliant businessman and so I'm glad he's doing 'Shark Tank' because I was... I remember at one point in our relationship, I was like, 'Can I ask you a question? How did you get so smart? Weren't you, like, playing baseball for 25 years?' and he's, like, has business degrees and he has his own corporation and, you know, he's just a very inspirational person, you know?"
J.Lo told "Extra" the two have been spending time with their kids as a family as well, revealing, “The kids are all great. He has two beautiful girls, I have my beautiful twins and everybody's, you know, we just all get along great.”
Lopez will perform her new single “Ni Tú Ni Yo” for the Fourth of July special. The singer said she was excited to be a part of the festivities. “It's so much fun!... I grew up watching the show and every Fourth of July we watched it, so it's nice to, you know, it's kind of surreal. It's always surreal when you do these things." Explaining the meaning behind the track, J.Lo said, “The song is really about when love takes you by surprise — 'Ni Tú Ni Yo,' 'Not You, Not Me' really expected this to happen, you know? That's what it's about, it's one of those things that when love comes, it just comes, it doesn't announce itself, and then it just takes over — ha! — you know what I mean? That's what the song is about, which is why I love it so much.”
Could the song be mirroring her real-life love story with Alex?
“It's funny," J.Lo admitted, "it kind of is, which music always is, in a way."
