Zsa Zsa Gabor Dead at 99
Hungarian socialite and actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, whose trademark was her heavily accented "dahling," has died at 99, TMZ reports.
She suffered a heart attack at her Bel-Air home Sunday, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Miss Hungary 1936, Zsa Zsa was the middle sister of the famous Gabors, who were synonymous with multiple marriages and glamorous living. Youngest sister Eva died at 76 in 1995, eldest sister Magda died at 81 in 1997. Their mother, a socialite in her own right, died months before Magda in 1997 at 100.
Gabor appeared in a variety of films, most notably "Moulin Rouge" (1952), "Touch of Evil" (1958) and the camp classic "Queen of Outer Space" (1958). Her last film appearance was in the 1996 spoof "A Very Brady Sequel."
She made innumerable TV appearances, often playing herself or thinly veiled versions of herself.
In 1989, when pulled over by Beverly Hills police officer Paul Kramer, Gabor decked the cop, leading to an avalanche of press and late-night parodies, not to mention community service.
Among her nine marriages, she was wed from 1947-1947 to Conrad Hilton, making her Paris Hilton's ex-step-great-grandmother. She was married from 1986 until her death to the flamboyant Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt, more than 25 years her junior.
Her daughter, comedian Francesca Hilton (from her marriage to Conrad Hilton), died from a stroke in 2015.
Gabor had been bedridden for a number of years following a car accident in 2002, a massive stroke in 2005, a fall in 2010 and the amputation of most of her right leg in 2011. She would have turned 100 in February.
After her death, her reps said in a statement to People magazine, “I am pleased that she is finally out of her misery. For the past five years, Zsa Zsa has suffered chronic dementia, locked away in her mansion laying in a hospital bed being fed through tubes in her naval, not able to speak, see, write or hear. Nor knowing who she was or how famous she was.”
Hollywood also reacted to Gabor's death, with Miley Cyrus tweeting, "Zsa Zsa!!!!! What a LONG & beautiful life! I have been beyond inspired by your style & grace! 💖🌸🍧👅 We LOVE & MISS YOU! #99 #ZsaZsa." See more tweets below!
