Larry King & Wife Shawn Divorcing After 22 Years

UPDATE: TMZ reports Larry and Shawn's adult sons urged him to file for divorce because they were afraid she was making legal moves that would affect their inheritance. Shawn denies the claims, insisting she was blindsided by the divorce filing. She is reportedly devastated, and does not plan to fight him due to his health.

It's over between Larry King, 85, and wife Shawn, 59, after 22 years of marriage.

According to court docs obtained by "Extra," the newsman filed for divorce on Tuesday in L.A. County Court. He listed their separation date as June 6, 2019, just short of their anniversary.

King listed “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. There was no mention of a prenup. They have two adult children, Chance, 20, and Cannon, 19.

Larry wed Shawn, his seventh wife, in his hospital room in 1997, as he prepared to have heart surgery. They both filed for divorce in 2010, but reconciled.

In 2016, Shawn was accused of cheating with a younger man, but their lawyers slammed the gossip as “inaccurate.”

Larry and Shawn didn't shy away from the reports when they stopped by Hallmark Channel's “Home & Family” with hosts Mark Steines and Debbie Matenopoulos in August 2016.

When Steines asked how they were dealing with the recent rumors about their relationship, King replied, “I've dealt with rumors for a long time, dealt with people involved with rumors, and rumors are what they are — rumors — and to tell you the truth, I don't pay any attention to them.”
