Ballerina Misty Copeland Reveals How You Can Experience ‘The Nutcracker’ During Holiday Lockdown
Professional ballerina Misty Copeland made history as the first female African-American principal dancer in the American Ballet Theatre’s history, and she tells “Extra’s” Cheslie Kryst she is not taking things easy in quarantine.
“I am like giving myself ballet class every morning… for about two and half hours, five days a week. I'm used to like seven or eight hours a day so that's a big change.”
Just like the rest of us, Misty will be taking a holiday break when LG Signature brings “The Nutcracker” to life in our homes, because we can’t go to the theater this holiday season.
Copeland shared, “I think in this time, where we’re not all together, where maybe you can’t be with your family, to be able to virtually connect, I think is really incredible.”
In partnership with American Ballet Theatre, LG Signature is celebrating this season by streaming a highlights performance of the classic ballet. Watch it December 4 at 6 p.m. EST on the ABT and LG Signature YouTube channels.
To really get in the holiday spirit, you can watch it on the LG Signature OLED 8K TV, and support the COVID-impacted arts community by gifting the LG Wine Cellar with a percentage of proceeds going to ABT’s Rise Program.
Misty told Cheslie about her own holiday plans, “I’ll be watching ‘The Nutcracker’… and of course, cook and eat a lot and be with my husband.
