Andy Cohen on Pride, His Post-COVID-19 Chest X-Ray, and the Moment Ben Met Anderson Cooper’s Son
Andy Cohen is celebrating Pride by turning his Radio Andy Sirius XM commercial-free for the weekend and featuring celebrity guest DJs.
“Extra's” Billy Bush caught up with Andy, who shared, “We've got all of these celebrity guest DJs coming in that have put their own Pride playlist together… The number one song that keeps recurring on everyone's list is 'Sylvester — You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)'… 'Sylvester' was on mine, too.”
What is his son Ben, 1, listening to these days? Cohen said, “He is very familiar at this point with both the Grateful Dead and Madonna. He has heard more Grateful Dead than 'Baby Shark,' I will tell you that much.”
Andy also recalled the moment he virtually introduced Ben to BFF Anderson Cooper's newborn son Wyatt on Father's Day: “It was really sweet. It was really, really sweet.”
He added, “Before the pandemic started, I was barely showing Ben on my social media… I certainly had never shown him on television. Now, I am broadcasting from home all the time and I'm like, 'Hey, Ben, want to be on TV?'… It was really fun [to introduce him to Wyatt], and the thing that tickles me is I know these guys are going to be in each other's lives forever. It's fun they will have this little moment in time on television they can see and look back on.”
Andy has been hard at work all summer with new episodes of “Watch What Happens Live.” He told Billy, “This is our Hamptons Clubhouse. We've moved out here for the summer. It doesn't look like we're going to be in our studio anytime soon.”Despite the pandemic, Andy is getting great virtual guests. “All these people who weren't doing press or coming to New York, but here they are,” he said.
Cohen has recovered from COVID-19 himself, and revealed, “I had a chest X-ray a few weeks ago and there was a little cloudiness in the lung. They said that's commensurate for someone who is recovering. Otherwise I feel pretty good. I lost a ton of weight and I gained it all back.”
