The “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” co-creator revealed that her little one was in the NICU, while acknowledging that her friend, musician Adam Schlesinger, was battling COVID-19. Within hours of her birth announcement, news broke that Adam had passed away.
Rachel's post said, “Having a baby in the NICU during a pandemic while a dear friend was in the hospital 3,000 miles away made this by far the most emotionally intense week of mine and Gregor's lives.”
She went on, “As the lovely doctors and nurses helped my daughter get some fluid out of her lungs, we watched the maternity ward around us change hourly to prepare for the upcoming COVID storm.”

She later followed up with several Instagram posts remembering Adam. In one post she called him "irreplaceable," in another she pointed out that "over the past few years, many people have told me that they have used 'Gettin' Bi' to come out. Well, that song was all Adam."
