Natalie Portman Used Her Embroidered Oscars Look to Send a Bold Message
Natalie Portman's Oscars look is more than meets the eye.
The star wore a dress and cape by Dior Haute Couture with the last names of female filmmakers embroidered onto the cape to underscore the fact that there were no women nominated for Best Director at the Academy Awards this year.
As she pointed out the names, Natalie told Amy Kaufman from The L.A. Times, “I wanted to recognize the women who were not recognized for their incredible work this year in my subtle way.”
