Niecy Nash & Jay Tucker Split

Actress Niecy Nash, 49, and her husband Jay Tucker are going their separate ways after eight years of marriage.

In a statement posted on Instagram Wednesday, the couple said, “We believe in the beauty of truth. Always have. Our truth is that in this season of our lives, we are better friends than partners in marriage.”

“Our union was such a gorgeous ride. And as we go our separate ways now, we feel fortunate for the love we share — present tense,” the statement continued. “Thank you all out there for your support of us as a couple over the last eight years. We are grateful. Niecy Nash + Jay Tucker.”

According to DailyMail.com, their time apart was one of the reasons for the split. A source shared, “They were living in two different cities and Jay expressed he didn't like his wife being in New Orleans while he was in L.A.”

Niecy was in New Orleans for her show “Claws.” The insider claimed, “Jay was really uncomfortable with her graphic sex scenes on the show and that made their problems worse.”

Nash recently opened up about the challenges of playing Desna Simms in "Claws." On an episode of "UNCENSORED," she said, "It's six in one hand, half a dozen in the other with people, you know, who can take seeing their spouse having intimacy on camera. It can be challenging because it's the thing that you're supposed to do behind the closed door and now you got 10 people in a room. You got somebody putting makeup on your booty."

Just a few months ago, Niecy shared some marriage advice, telling Essence, “A BJ a day keeps the divorce attorney away.”

Nash recently told Essence, “The thing that marriage has taught me about loving someone else, is that love is selfless. You are not giving a person what's easy for you to give, you are giving them what's required.”

Niecy last posted about Jay on her Instagram on Valentine's Day.

In Essence, she emphasized, “When they see us out in the public, we are exactly the way we are in a curated life on Instagram. People think that we like each other, and that's because we do.”

Nearly 10 years ago, Niecy dished on her engagement to the electrical engineer, telling People magazine, “I have to say, this second time around, it feels custom. Even after I got my divorce, the ink wasn't even dry on the paper, and I said, 'Ooh, the next time I become a wife, I got this thing down pat!' I always believed that there was someone built for me.”

Niecy and Jay tied the knot in 2011. Before the nuptials, she stressed that it is “never too late” to find love. She told People, “There's a lot of women out there, some of whom are my age who've never been married and some who have been married and would like to be married again but think their ship has sailed, and I'm like, 'Oh, no, honey, let Miss Niecy show you it is never too late for love!'”
