John Schneider Says 'I Do' to GF... Despite Ongoing Divorce Proceedings with Ex
“The Dukes of Hazzard” star John Schneider and girlfriend Alicia Allain tied the knot in an intimate barn wedding — but the marriage isn't legal yet.
The actor is still technically married to Elvira “Elly” Schneider, five years after she filed for divorce.
Due to the ongoing proceedings, which center around unpaid alimony, Schneider and Allain decided to get married “before God,” and make it official once his split with Elvira is finalized.
The intimate ceremony took place at John Schneider Studios in Holden, Louisiana. See the wedding pics here!
Alicia told People magazine, “This has been a wonderful celebration, a sanctuary of love. Just a perfect day of celebrating with friends and family.” John, who currently stars on “Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots,” added, “Happy is too small of a word.”
Allain wore a sleeveless champagne dress, while Schneider chose a tan suit with a gold tie.
During his stint on “Dancing with the Stars” last year, he praised Alicia in an interview with Parade.com, saying, “I feel like there's nothing that we can't do. I tell you, this woman has been through hell with the stuff we're not even talking about over the last several years, and she's sticking it out with me. She's still there… She's been here throughout my whole divorce process.”
“I'm admired, which is a far more important word, I think, than appreciated, and I admire her,” he said. “I admire her tenacity, her work ethic, her ability to love, and her ability to show love to me, to her parents and those she cares for. I never felt so — gosh, I hate this word, it's s such a corny word, but it's true — complete.”
In 2016, John was ordered to pay Elvira nearly $19,000 per month in alimony, according to The Blast. The actor then claimed he was “willing, but unable” to make the payments due to hardships, including two floods that caused significant damage to his studio. In May, the site claimed he now owes her around $600,000.
In 2018, he served a few hours behind bars over the unpaid alimony.
