Hot & Heavy! Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello Hook Up in New Music Video

The music video, which was released Thursday night, features Shawn and Camila as lovers who meet at a club and eventually spend the night together in a motel room.

They were directed in the steamy video by Dave Meyers, who has worked with Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, and Kendrick Lamar, among many other. Of their love scenes, Camila told fans during a YouTube Q&A, “The whole music video was funny because we were both really nervous. I had to drink a lot of wine!”

While they have been the subject of dating rumors for years, Shawn and Camila have always insisted they are just friends. She said, “We've known each other for about four years now, and I really love Shawn as a person. He's always been there for me. I'm lucky I found someone like that early on [when] I started this [career]!”

Shawn added in the YouTube video, “She is the most creative, most fun, most empathetic person I know. Working with her is a dream!”

Earlier this week, the two were teasing their new music with short clips from the music video.

In the song, Shawn and Camila sing the catchy hook, “I love it when you call me señorita / I wish I could pretend I didn't need ya. Ooh, I should be running / Ooh, you keep me coming for ya.” While they had been working on the song for nine months, they only recorded it in April. Camila revealed, “Actually, its been a long time coming. We really felt like it was the right time about two months ago.”

In December, Camila hinted at their collaboration while responding to a pic that Shawn posted of them sitting on a the floor. Referencing their first collaboration, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” she wrote, “IKWYDLS part 2????”

“I Know What You Did Last Summer” was released in 2015.

Mendes is currently on tour, while Cabello is working on a new album.
