Luann de Lesseps Goes Back to Rehab — Details on Her Relapse
“The Real Housewives of New York City” star Luann de Lesseps is returning to rehab.
Her co-star Bethenny Frankel is speaking on her behalf, telling People magazine, “This weekend, Luann was surrounded by her girlfriends and decided — with their support — that in light of recent circumstances, it is the healthiest choice for her not to attend Tuesday's reunion taping so that she can continue in her healing process.”
“Luann is now surrounded by a core group of people who truly have her best interests at heart and who are working to make sure she gets the help she needs,” Bethenny continued. “Bravo has been very supportive of Luann during this time. It's a brave and honest decision by her, and everyone is rallying around her and wants the best for her.”
Bethenny also revealed that Luann is “taking the necessary steps to get better” so she can continue her cabaret performances at New York City's Feinstein's/54 Below.
In a separate statement, Bravo confirmed that Luann will not be part of the Season 10 reunion, adding, “Bravo supports Luann's decision to focus on her health. She is part of the Bravo family and we continue to stand by her as she copes with this challenging situation. At this time, we hope everyone will respect her privacy.”
RadarOnline.com reports that Luann has been drinking for a few months, ever since wrapping on the latest season of “The Real Housewives of New York City.” A source said, “She was sober during filming, but is back to drinking… She knew she should be sober on camera, but now she thinks she can drink in a low-key way.”
Luann first went to rehab after she was arrested in December, following an alleged physical altercation with cops. After her stint, she told "Extra's" AJ Calloway, “I've learned a lot... It was a rough thing to go through personally and embarrassing and something that I'm not proud of. I'm not perfect, I screwed up and I hope that people can see that.”
