Luke Bryan on His ‘American Idol’ Hate Mail, Plus: Nicole Kidman Gushing About ‘Big Little Lies’ Co-Star Meryl Streep
On Sunday, “Extra” Special Correspondent Alecia Davis caught up with Luke Bryan at the 53rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, where he dished on his judging gig on “American Idol.”
Luke laughed, "I wasn't prepared for the fans to get so mad at me for people that we send home. But we have to send somebody home. We love them all!”
Luke pointed out that he's already received some hate mail over eliminated contestants, saying that people have told him, "I'm ripping up tickets to your concert, you're awful, you're a horrible human being!"
Fan reaction aside, Luke is really enjoying being on the show with fellow judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. He shared, “Katy is crazy as hell, but it's a good crazy... Lionel is like just our sweet Papa Lionel.”
Alecia also spoke to Nicole Kidman, who is back at work on Season 2 of the Emmy Award-winning HBO series “Big Little Lies” with newest cast member, Meryl Streep. When asked what it's been like working with the legendary actress, Nicole revealed, “She's extraordinary. She's come in and she's so the character. She's such a hard worker. You would think that if anyone can rest on their laurels, it's Meryl, and she is just completely still on fire. She has a passion for the work. She's an actor's actor.”
Kidman was on hand to support husband Keith Urban, who took home the award for Vocal Event for his song “The Fighter.”
