“Modern Family” actress Julie Bowen and husband Scott Phillips are separating after 13 years of marriage, People reports.
Rumors were circulating about trouble in their marriage in December. At the time, In Touch claimed that Julie and Scott had been “living separate lives for a while now.”
A source told the site that the two “tried to keep it together for their three sons,” but the marriage is “hanging by a thread.”
In November, Bowen opened up about letting their kids see real life. She told Us Weekly, “Being perfect is not a good model for your children. They need to see that there's tension or arguments, they need to see those get resolved, they need to see real life — not too much of real life. I'm pretty shy about the news with them, but I think real life has lots of… we're not perfect people, but we can all love each other.”
Their last red-carpet appearance together was at the Los Angeles LGBT Center's 47th Anniversary Gala Vanguard Awards in 2016. At the event, Bowen joked about divorce, telling Us Weekly, “We watch all these people get married and split up and go, 'Wait, did they get married after us or before us?' We outlast all these people. The answer: We're too tired to do anything else!”
The whole family — including their three sons Oliver, 10, and twins John and Gustav, 8 — was last photographed together in February last year at a Harlem Globetrotters game in Los Angeles.
Bowen has a reported net worth of over $10 million. According to Deadline, ABC could be paying her up to $500,000 an episode for "Modern Family" for Season 9 and possibly even more in the final season of show.
