Viola Davis Dishes on ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ and Her Real-Life Husband Joining the Show
The wait is almost over! “How to Get Away with Murder” will be back on the air next month!
“Extra's” Renee Bargh sat down with Viola Davis at the Television Critics Association to get some secrets and spoilers for the fans.
Viola revealed where the new season picks up, explaining, “Annalise has pretty much lost everything… which is I think an interesting place to start from because you can only go up from there, so you're going to see how she gets her mojo back in every episode.”
“You are going to see Annalise stepping into her bad-assery,” she continued, "but in a way that we probably missed in the last couple of seasons. I think she is going to go back to who she really is.”
Davis also dished on the rest of the characters, saying, “In general, I think all of us are starting from bottom of the barrel. I think you are going to see how each of them claw their way to the top and step into who they are and how it changes the dynamics between us in our relationship.”
Fans will also get to see Davis' real-life husband Julius Tennon as he joins the cast for at least one episode.
“I love working with my husband. I really do,” she said.
Renee noted that the couple has worked together a lot. Viola replied, “We have and we do it well… We just have a good time. Actually, he kept saying that, too, 'I love working with you, V.' So sweet.”
Viola took home the Emmy for her role as Annalise in 2015, and just received her third nomination for the role. Is she excited? “Yeah… it's not my style to go, 'Oh, I'm so excited!!' But, yeah,” adding she already has her dress picked out for TV's biggest night.
“How to Get Away with Murder” premieres September 28 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
